I decided to participate in the Take It Off Weight Loss Program because I was frustrated with adhering to what I believed to be a well-balanced, healthy diet and yielding less than favorable results in maintaining a healthy, comfortable weight for my body. My desire was to not only lose 15 pounds of body fat for a leaner, fitter look, but to fuel my body more efficiently for athletic performance.

When I heard that The Atlantic Club was looking for five volunteers to participate in the Take It Off Challenge, I knew I was perfect for the job. When I initially signed up, I was about 5th on the list so to my surprise when I showed up on October 29th and saw hundreds of willing volunteers. I knew my chances of being selected as one of the lucky 5 had become very slim.

I got started with the Take It Off Weight Loss Program from becoming a new member at the Atlantic Club in Manasquan. I joined the club as an attempt to yet again get myself in shape. After two pregnancies, somewhat close together and a 50 lb weight gain with the second, I began to feel depressed and defeated. I decided I had to start putting myself and my health higher on the list of priorities.

What does it mean when the only things in your wardrobe that fit are jewelry and shoes! It’s time to “Take It Off!!!” As I eased into retirement and the stress free life of a “seasoned citizen”, I looked forward to more carefree days, time for myself and the opportunity to try new and exiting adventures. Little did I realize, that the only adventure I permitted myself was to treat myself to more leisurely restaurant lunches, afternoon coffee and… where to go for dinner!
